“YouTube for Ideas”
Having debuted this past Monday, a new website called Big Think features interviews with public intellectuals from a range of fields, from identity, to economics, to science and technology, and allows users to participate in debates on a variety of issues. Pitched as “a YouTube for ideas," Big Think’s mission is to provide a venue for intellectual discussion that is guided by the general public. This user-driven model is already transforming the way in which we exchange knowledge and ideas with each other, and Big Think seems to be facilitating this process even further. Thus far, its producers have compiled a library of about 180 interviews, with such esteemed figures as Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, Chairman of Virgin Group Richard Branson, and many others.
