2008 International Journalism Exchange Program
Each year, the International Journalism Exchange program invites up to 10 editors from print media in the developing countries where media assistance is needed. The International Journalism Exchange is administered by the International Center for Journalists, in partnership with the American Society of Newspaper Editors. Through this program, up to 10 principle editors from newspaper, wire or online news outlets are invited to the United States for a five-week program, the core of which is a three-week internship at a U.S. newsroom. The visiting editors have an opportunity to observe all aspects of producing a newspaper, wire, or online news products, and managing a newsroom in the U.S., and are invited to exchange ideas and information with the host newsroom staff and local community. The goals of this program are to strengthen the independent press overseas and to enhance U.S. understanding of other cultures and media systems around the world. Writing and reporting are not objectives of the program. Write to us at ije@icfj.org for application forms or more information. Applications can be submitted online, or returned to us via e-mail, mail or fax by June 1, 2008, and applicants will be notified of the results in July.
