Antiquities Protection in Conflict Settings
The Cultural Policy Center at the University of Chicago has recently released a book, Antiquities Under Seige, that reaffirms an important soft power component of dealing with post-conflict settings. This issue rose to the forefront in Iraq, when the National Museum was looted during the early days of the war. The book discusses how crucial it is to ensure protection of historic sites and artifacts, and outlines the latest efforts made by individual actors and the international community to do so.
