Book Signing | Losing the Golden Hour

Creative Associates is hosting Senior Advisor James "Spike" Stephenson to talk about his book "Losing the Golden Hour: An Insider's View of Iraq Reconstruction. The event will be: Wednesday, November 28 4:00pm-6:00pm Creative Associates Internationa, Inc. 5301 Wisconsin Ave., NW Suite 700 Washington, DC 20015 rsvp to: rsvp@caii.com This event should be pretty interesting and ties with last night's book discussion with Rajiv Chandrasekaran (author of Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone) here at CSIS but hosted by the World Affairs Council of Washington, DC. Having just finished Chandrasekaran's book, it was a happy coincidence that he was in the building and willing to share his thoughts. The book's great and should horrify anyone interested in doing quality post-conflict reconstruction work - one alarming observation about the event last night, though, was that some in the audience seemed much more interested in scoring political points and, frankly, laughing at the Republicans instead of seeing what went on in Iraq as the kind of tragedy it was. The story he was telling wasn't a funny one and it was surprising and disappointing to hear people laugh.
