Broadband Magic
Some broadband advocates are now saying that universal deployment could create 1.2 million jobs and $500 billion in new economic development (I'll source this claim later). Where do they get these numbers? Since the bulk of Americans already have access to broadband - 85% to 90%, this means an extension of broadband to the remaining 10%-15% of the population will produce the expected results. That translates into each person who will now have access to broadband generating $17,000 in new income as a result of access or, if we limit to the working population, each person will generate roughly an additional $30,000 in income. A-mazing.
