A Collection of Papers from the 2011 Nuclear Scholars Initiative
The CSIS Project on Nuclear Issues is pleased to present A Collection of Papers from the 2011 Nuclear Scholars Initiative. This publication features contributions from Alexis A. Blanc, Michael A. Clauser, Thomas Devine, Shaheen Azim Dewji, Rebecca Davis Gibbons, Matthew Hallex, Matthew Harries, Laura Berzak Hopkins, Vincent Manzo, Marie McLetchie, Kevin M. Mueller, Caroline S. Reilly, Grant Schneider, and Alejandro M. Sueldo, all participants of this fall’s Nuclear Scholars Initiative at CSIS. Over the course of six months, these graduate students and young professionals discussed various aspects of U.S. nuclear weapons policy, culminating in the presentation of individual research projects which are featured in this journal. Covering a wide variety of topics, this edition of the Nuclear Scholars Initiative contains papers dealing with extended deterrence to the Middle East and the Gulf, U.S.-China nuclear relations, nuclear signaling, modernization of the U.S. nuclear complex, arms control with Russia, deterring nuclear terrorism, nonproliferation treaties, and U.S.-UK nuclear cooperation.
