Director’s Corner | International Education Week 2007
This week, November 12-16, is the 8th annual International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to promote and celebrate international education and exchange worldwide. This year’s theme, International Education: Fostering Global Citizenship and Respect, is critical with regard to our rapidly changing global environment and pairs well with Rachel Posner’s recent commentary on this blog about public diplomacy and Erik Peterson's Director's Corner on the Humphrey Fellows. The IEW website has a variety of resources, including facts on study abroad and international students in the U.S.; statements from President Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, and others; and several quizzes on culture, economy, and geography provided by the National Geographic Society.
