Doing Business
The World Bank recently released its annual “Doing Business” report for 2008, which provides measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 178 countries. According to the report, Eastern Europe has experienced a boom in new business entry comparable to the rapid growth previously witnessed in East Asia. In addition, emerging economies such as India and China continued their business regulation reforms. By the rankings, Egypt is recognized as the top reformer worldwide, while Singapore retains its distinction as the easiest place to do business for the second consecutive year. The report is not available free of charge, but click here to see an overview. Also, check out this interesting map that provides profiles of each country’s rankings in the report.
