FP's New AfPak Blog

Foreign Policy Magazine and the New America Foundation just launched AfPak Channel. @AfPakChannel is great on Twitter, so it isn't surprising that site is already an important center for the debate on our strategy and the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Here are some highlights from its first few days.

"Why the Taliban Are Winning - For Now," Kimberly Kagan. Kagan says we're fighting in the wrong places, in the wrong ways, and with the wrong assumptions. That's not new, but she points out is that we're at least talking the talk, and we need to shift our strategies to align better with the enviornment - exactly the kind of fine-tuning that the strategic advisory team was supposed to come up with.

"Is Kandahar FUBAR?" AfPak Channel Debate. Good discussion on whether the Taliban is winning, and why, in Kandahar.

"Daily Briefing." I'm not sure it's more useful than the Early Bird, but it is more accessible.

"Afghan Elections: The Contenders." A zippy summary of the most interesting candidates in the Afghan elections.
