Haiti in Crisis

Haiti is among the most

Haiti is among the most fragile of the world's fragile states - natural disasters, misrule for most of the 20th century, and low agricultural productivity all come together in an unholy trinity. It is an exemplary case of how a slight external shock can have catastrophic internal consequences for an LDC with a small territory and high population density.

The slide show, of course, is heartrending. It struck me most keenly how every person in the photos is so thin. We take for granted the ability to eat as much as we want, but we are part of a global minority for that.
