Humanitarian Crisis Spotlight | North Korea

We've been writing a good amount on the global food crisis, so this piece on how famine has devastated the North Korean population caught our attention. Hitchens is typically forceful in his arguments for a cessastion of concessions to Kim Jong Il's regime, and derides the cycle of tests, tensions, and forced food aid that have characterized the past years. Malnutrition has resulted in a 5-6 inch height difference between North Koreans and South Koreans, and millions continue to starve as a result of Pyongyang's policies. Hitchens is right - there will come a time when North Korea is no more; and its former citizens will wonder "what we were doing while they were confined."
