Immigrant Entrepreneurs and High Tech, Round II
The July 23 entry reported two new studies that found that immigrants did not form a disproportionate share of high tech entrepreneurs. This has apparently been greeted with squeals of rage (the preferred academic usage is “harshly criticized”) from other researchers who have argued that immigrants play a much greater role. To continue the academic usage, there does appear to be “an unusual degree of partisanship” in the critique.
This is a fight over numbers and definitions - what is high tech, who counts as an entrepreneur. The traffic came through the Industry Studies Association Mailing List, which often has some pretty good stuff
