International Women’s Day 2008

To mark International Women’s Day, which was last weekend (March 8th), the OECD highlights several of its gender-related reports/efforts from recent years. Their reports cover issues such as family-friendly policies in the workplace and the critical role for women in poverty reduction and sustainable development. In addition, some of their other efforts include the following:

  • a network that brings together aid experts to address how best to approach gender issues;
  • a database that provides statistical resources on gender issues from over 160 countries;
  • and a new platform, Wikigender, that allows users to exchange knowledge and statistics on gender issues.

The OECD is even giving an award to the most gender-friendly workplace within the Organisation. To find out more about the OECD’s work on gender, click here. To learn about International Women’s Day, click here.
