Jeffrey Sachs’s Take on Water Policy

In his new book, Common Wealth, Jeff Sachs dedicates a chapter to addressing our water challenges.  On the Marginal Revolution blog, Tyler Cowen has some interesting comments in response to Sachs’s proposals.  While Sachs calls for greater international cooperation and massive increases in international funding, Cowen is skeptical of the wisdom and effectiveness of such an approach.  Instead, he would rather funding for water projects come from national and state governments, with the private sector heavily involved in the innovation and finance process for water provision.  To read an email exchange about the book between Sachs and Martin Wolf, associate editor and chief economics commentator at the Financial Times, please click here.
