Full details after the jump. Program Officer Grants The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) seeks an individual to serve as a Program Officer in the Institute’s Grant Program. The Institute provides funding to individuals and civil society organizations throughout the world for research, education and training projects, and for the dissemination of information on international peace building and conflict resolution. The individual hired will play a significant role in the administration of the Grant Program. Duties include: 1) Managing a diverse portfolio of grants; 2) Providing guidance to applicants in the preparation of grant proposals, including active assistance in the development of grant applications from organizations in countries identified as priorities by the USIP; 3) Reviewing and evaluating new proposals; 4) Managing the process of proposal evaluation, including internal and external peer review; 5) Monitoring the implementation and evaluation of grant projects and contracts; 6) Assisting in the Grant Program’s strategic planning. The successful candidate will also develop and manage programming activities on behalf of grantees, including conferences, workshops, or presentations at USIP, and will serve as a resource person for USIP in the individual’s area(s) of expertise. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The successful candidate will have: a) Ph.D. or comparable experience in the social sciences, security studies, international relations, peace keeping or conflict management studies; b) demonstrated skills in grant making, evaluation and administration; c) experience with preparation of publications accessible to a broad public audience; d) significant international or other experience in effective cross-cultural communication; and e) strong interpersonal and communication skills. In addition to these qualifications, the Institute also welcomes applications from individuals that possess area expertise, with a particular interest in and expertise on Africa. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
