For more information, please visit www.aiusa.org Position Description: The AIUSA Government Relations and Advocacy Development (GRAD) Managing Director is responsible for overseeing AIUSA’s work on, and relations with, the U.S. government. S/he is responsible for carrying forward our advocacy with the US government through Congressional testimony and high-level meetings; developing strategies to advance human rights issues in US domestic and foreign policy; and managing a team of Advocacy Directors who use their expertise to design and implement strategies to achieve the human rights goals of AIUSA’s campaigns and other work.  The GRAD Managing Director will be an accomplished strategist with a distinguished track record, who can gain access for AIUSA at the highest levels of the US government, in Congress and the Administration, including the State Dept and White House; and represent AIUSA with Ambassadors, policymakers, activists, members, in the media, and with funders. Helping to manage AIUSA’s organizational transition to significantly strengthen our large-scale grassroots campaigning, the GRAD Managing Director will provide leadership and management to a team of high-level advocates. These advocates serve as experts on cross-functional campaign teams within the organization, advocate with Congress and the Administration, provide testimony and legislative analysis, and help to organize grassroots work with district Congressional offices through volunteer activists at the local level across the country.  Qualifications:  A minimum of seven years in management positions with strong supervisory, budgetary, communications and interpersonal skills; seven years in international affairs, human rights, or another advocacy field, with a deep understanding of international relations; excellent knowledge of USG and advocacy, with extensive experience within government and/or similar experience in a comparable advocacy organization, preferably with a membership base.     The GRAD Managing Director is based in AIUSA’s Washington, DC office and reports to the Deputy Executive Director, Research and Policy.
