Full details after the jump.The Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit (PRDU) at the University of York is currently recruiting for the position of Lecturer in Post-war Recovery Studies. I would appreciate your assistance in identifying potential candidates and in forwarding this message to other relevant individuals or institutions. Candidates should possess a PhD in peace and conflict studies, international development, international relations or other related fields with a focus on post-conflict recovery in addition to Arabic fluency, a close familiarity with the Middle East and a strong record of teaching and publishing. The selected candidate will be expected to take part in the PRDU's two post-graduate courses and several training programmes in the UK and abroad, to supervise PhD students and to engage in consulting and commissioned research activities as necessary while developing an innovative body of research and publications. The successful candidate is expected to develop a long-term research programme exploring the evolving nature of humanitarianism and post-war reconstruction in the World of Islam. More specifically, research streams could focus on: 1) the inter-relations between Islam, the politics of predominantly Islamic states and humanitarian action and 2) the rebuilding of war-torn Muslim societies. As part of these duties, the successful candidate should be prepared to spend up to four months of the year at the PRDU-associated Regional Human Security Centre (RHSC) in Amman, Jordan.
