Making the Most of Your Donations
In the spirit of the holiday season, here is a resource that can help you decide to which organizations you should donate: it’s called GiveWell, and it works to gather information on charity organizations in a variety of issues and ranks them based on the results they achieve. GiveWell uses its grant-making process as the avenue through which it researches the activities and results of charities, having found that this process allows them to collect the most substantial and worthwhile information. The organization is currently researching charities working in health, global poverty, education, employment assistance, and child care. In the health (saving lives) category, our friends at Population Services International top the list, while in the employment assistance section, Year Up ranks first.
