Mapping the Hazards of Climate Change for Humanitarians
CARE, a leading humanitarian organization, is harnessing science to guide efforts to fight poverty. Scientists continue to provide evidence that suggests warming from climate change and human activities is melting glaciers and changing weather patterns in the India, China, eastern Africa, and other places around the world. CARE’s new report allows decision makers to see where these predicted changes clash with communities that are most vulnerable due to underlying natural, social, and financial factors.
This report stresses the need for aid targeted at reducing vulnerability rather than just reacting to emergencies, investment in improved hazard and vulnerability analysis and mapping systems, and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
