May Pakistan Be In Your Thoughts
Earlier today a suicide bomber set off a bomb in a mosque in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least 50 and injuring 80. The mosque was packed with people celebrating "one of Islam's major holidays with the country's former interior minister." The official was not harmed but his extended family were among the injured. Please read this NYTimes article for all of the shocking details. A Reuter's article documents the chronology of attacks in Pakistan since July 2007--a helpful piece for those not up to date on Pakistan events. It is during these hard times we hope the Pakistani people are strong and help one another to overcome this tragedy. We put a conference on in October 2007, "Overcoming Extremism, Protecting Civilians from Terrorist Violence." Unfortunately this violence obviously still exists today, but we encourage you to visit our website and begin learning about what we must do to stop these horrible attacks from continuing.

That's just awful. I don't
That's just awful. I don't know to what extent the goal on this and the Bhutto attack was mass death or just assassination, but it's obvious that at best the perpetrators don't care how many people they kill.
Here's hoping the dead/injured numbers don't go much higher.
