Mexico’s Drug Violence
Mexico City. Flickr photo by Mario De Leo used under a Creative Commons license. Mexico's drug trafficking-fueled violence continues to worsen. Recent years have seen drug cartels adopting terror tactics such as videotaped beheadings and broadening their targets from police and military to judges, journalists, politicians, and even top government officials. The effects of the violence and strength of the drug traffickers is having an impact across the country and the situation has the attention of top U.S. policymakers. For anyone digging into the issues, the Los Angeles Times has an excellent series on the conflict - Mexico Under Siege - with an accessible archive, helpful graphics, and powerful photos.
