Musharraf Responds

In a wide-ranging interview, appearing "relaxed and confident," Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf discussed the death of Benazir Bhutto - from the NYTimes.

I find it strange that Benazir Bhutto and Musharraf are still bickering, but it is reassuring in the sense that it feels like she is still here or we will all meet again.

I think all parties could do better to provide for security for elections and I am hoping that Musharraf will follow up on his word to provide it amply. But someone I know asked whether politicians get the same security as the generals.

An election officer was targeted during Eid and in Haroonabad, two people died from a suicide bomber when a politician came to get votes. So perhaps we should ask if there will be more attempts to derail elections and be prepared.
