Musharraf Steps Down As Chief Of Army
The speculation is finally over, Musharraf dropped his leading reigns over the Pakistan military as chief of the army, yet remains president over the 160 million populated country. Musharraf's military successor, General Ashfaq Kayani, now controls the military in his position of chief of the army. We will keep you updated throughout the end of the week on what we consider views from Pakistanis as voiced in blogs, articles etc. about their civilian president as well as American views on what implications his retreat from military duty will have on U.S. - Pakistan relations. Excellent, I'm glad to have been unduly paranoid about whether even this would happen. That said, until martial law is lifted and the courts are restored he's still a dictator, just a civilian one.
