No Clue What’s Going On in FATA

fatamapsmall.jpgThis is a couple of weeks old, but it's worth drawing attention to, especially ahead of John Negroponte's appearance today in front of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In testimony before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on May 7, Richard Holbrooke remarked, "I don’t have a clue what’s going on in the FATA. And if anyone ever comes before this Committee and says so, you’d better ask twice, because it is one of the most elusive areas in the world" (The exact quote comes at 24:50 on the video recording). Today's hearing is titled: Pakistan's FATA Challenge: Securing One of the World's Most Dangerous Areas. We'll see if it comes up.
