Overcoming Extremism Featured Speaker | Irshad Manji

As we move toward our October 22-23 conference Overcoming Extremism: Protecting Civilians from Terrorist Violence (official website coming soon!), a new regular feature on the blog will be profiles of speakers at the conference. Today's featured speaker is Irshad Manji. Best known for her book The Trouble with Islam Today: A Muslim's Call for Reform in Her Faith, Ms. Manji is known (affectionately?) as "Osama bin Laden's worst nightmare." Expect discussion of the concepts of ijtihad and taqlid as she joins us for the panel Community Responses.
