Overcoming Extremism Featured Speaker | Mr. Daniel Benjamin
We are proud to announce another one of our featured speakers for the Overcoming Extremism conference, Mr. Daniel Benjamin (October 22nd-23rd, register online). Currently the Director and a Senior Fellow at the Center on the United States and Europe at the Brookings Institution, Mr. Daniel Benjamin's areas of expertise include European affairs, terrorism and American foreign and security policy. He served for more than five years on the National Security Council staff, including as director for transnational threats. We are also very proud to acknowledge Mr. Benjamin as a former CSIS Senior Fellow. His current research focuses on Islam in Europe, the European periphery and the evolution of Jihadist terrorism. He recently wrote two books, The Age of Sacred Terror (Random House, 2002), named a New York Times Notable Book of 2002 and given the Arthur Ross Book Award of the Council on Foreign Religions and The Next Attack: The Failure of the War on Terror and a Strategy for Getting it Right, was published by Holt/Times Books in 2005 and named a Washington Post “Best Book” of 2005. Clearly highly knowledgeable on the topic, Mr. Benjamin will be the moderator for The Evolution of Terrorist Tactics workshop.
