PONI Fall Conference Panel 2 Recap

Panel 2 looked at “Responding to the Spread of Dangerous Materials and Technologies.” Speakers and guests delved into thinking about what type of verification efforts would be needed for a FMCT and whether it would be possible to draw on existing measures to help craft these guidelines. In addition to the FMCT specifically, conference participants discussed a number of efforts currently underway in an effort to curb the spread of nuclear materials and technology in addition to many of the challenges still facing the nonproliferation efforts. Lastly, there was a discussion about what type of technologies could be useful in dealing with the unfortunate aftermath of a nuclear detonation.
