Raise a Glass of Tap to World Water Week

If you live in DC and take the metro, you may have noticed ads recently for World Water Week. Or maybe not. Maybe you, like most people, stick your nose in the Express and don’t pull it out until you reach the light at the top of the escalator.  I know I do, and I only notice those Pepsi banners because, since they drape most of Metro Center, they are in my field of vision. But this is one advertisement that deserves to be seen. As the picture of a solitary glass will tell you, all this week TapDC will be sponsoring events to raise money for and increase awareness about global water issues. At participating restaurants (pdf), you will be asked to donate $1 for tap water which will help provide a child in the developing world with 40 days of drinking water. Also, for those who always just order water, this is a great way to feel less cheap. The Edison Place Gallery is exhibiting works by local artists on the importance of a glass of water. Be sure to come out tomorrow night and see Jamey Turner, the world’s most acclaimed (/only?) glass harpist, perform at the opening reception from 6-9pm.

Check out World Water Week’s blog for more information about the project and the week’s events.

I totally agree Chris. Those

I totally agree Chris. Those Pepsi banners are everywhere. And completely, completely ripped off from the Obama campaign.
