Skyrocketing Fuel Prices Make Solar Thermal Plants Hot
According to the New York Times, skyrocketing fossil fuel prices and growing concerns about climate change have increased the demand for solar thermal plants as a way to generate electricity. Recently, two prototype solar thermal plants were opened in the U.S., and another ten are in the development phase. The United States is not alone; countries across the globe including Spain, Morocco, and Algeria are busy constructing their own power plants. Although solar thermal energy is still relatively expensive to produce, this renewable energy source has great potential for the future.
