Special Water Week Series | The Tap Project
As part of World Water Week, UNICEF has launched a nationwide effort called the Tap Project, a campaign that highlights the importance of clean and accessible tap water. Beginning March 16 (yesterday) through Saturday, March 22, restaurants in cities across the country will invite their customers to donate a minimum of $1 for the tap water that they would usually get for free. UNICEF estimates that for every dollar raised, a child will have clean drinking water for 40 days. Over two thousand restaurants in cities from Portland to New York City are participating; dozens of restaurants in Washington, DC are involved as well.
