Thinking Anew: Security Priorities for the Next Administration

PCR Project Co-Director Karin von Hippel recently participated in a panel discussion at George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute (HSPI).  The event titled, “International Strategy: Re-Invigorating Our Role in the World,” focused on security priorities for the Obama administration.  Dr. von Hippel talked about the importance of improving coordination between civilian, military, NGO, and United Nations (UN) assistance in places like Afghanistan and Sudan.  She highlighted the need to translate hard-learned lessons from placed like Iraq to achieve strategic objectives in ongoing security and humanitarian operations.
