Turks Vote, Kurds Rally
After a Turkish Parliament (TBMM) vote allowing Turkish military troops to invade Iraq's border against PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) terror forces located in northern Iraq, Kurds rallied 100,000 strong in protest at Irbil, with an additional 5,000 in Duhuk. Increased diplomatic ties between the Iraqi government and the Turks in addition to U.S. statements urging against an attack will hopefully delay any action considered by the TBMM. The Kurdistan regional government (KRG) also issued the following statement, "We do not interfere in the internal affairs of Turkey, and we expect the same in return," in hopes of preventing Turkey's possible attack. While understanding the frustration of the Turkish government, spouting from attacks by the PKK into Turkish territory, we do hope that diplomacy can be used to solve this problem.
