UN Secretary-General Warns Global Warming May Cost Up To $20 Trillion
In a new report prepared for a two-day key debate at the UN General Assembly in mid-February, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon warned that global warming could cost the world up to $20 trillion dollars over 2 decades. According to UN figures, the global energy industry spends about $300 billion a year in new plants, transmission networks and other new investment, and Ban says that global investments of $15 trillion to $20 trillion over the next 20 to 25 years may be required "to place the world on a markedly different and sustainable energy trajectory". Global Warming can scarcely
Global Warming can scarcely be denied. All the evidence points to the fact that it is happening, and will continue to happen if we don't drastically reduce CO2 levels immediately. I found a petition which is telling Congress to take action, and, as we gain signatures, money is donated to stop global warming.

Please, we need to speak out to save our planet.
Well, according to wikipedia
Well, according to wikipedia the total U.S. economy is about 13.6 trillion in 2006. So essentially over 20-25 years we'll have to put in 1.5 U.S. economies worth of investment. That's a lot, but then I also expect much of that money would have been spent on energy anyways and the rest is certainly justified by avoiding the consequences of even greater warming.
That said, this is by no means an issue beyond politics. We're going to have to work out who pays, and I don't think much of the developing world is interested in paying a proportional share considering that the developed world created this problem when we industrialized.
