Video of Afghanistan-Pakistan Border Strike

The Washington Post has the Defense Department video of the U.S. air strike across the Pakistani border: wpborderattackvideo1.jpg

Seems fairly convincing to

Seems fairly convincing to me. One issue is that the second bomb was off screen. It'd be nice if they could have used one of the zoomed out shots to identify where the second bomb hit.

I'm a bit dubious about the term "Anti-Afghan Forces." I tend to think these are bad guys, but it isn't as if they want to abolish Afghanistan as an independent nation, they want to control it.

Finally we're going to have to work out what the limits for U.S. hot pursuit over the Pakistani border. At this point, the hostiles had disengaged. They weren't an immediate threat to the U.S. although presumably would return to to shoot at us at a later time, possibly even later that day.

None of these are really new issues though. There's probably a tradition of arrangements for unclear borders with third party actors (occasionally including armed forces members gone rogue). I think we'd do well to work out such an official agreement with the Pakistani civilian government. We'll probably still need to use videos like this for controversial attacks, but at least we'd have something clear to point to.
