CSIS hosted a discussion with Gary Langer, Director of Polling, ABC News, on "Afghanistan: Where Things Stand". He presented results of ABC News’ latest national public opinion poll in Afghanistan. The poll, conducted with the BBC and German broadcaster ARD, consists of face-to-face interviews performed between Dec. 30, 2008, and Jan. 12, 2009, among a random sample of 1,534 Afghan adults in all 34 of the country's provinces, and shows dramatic changes in attitudes across a range of measures.After the event Gary Langer gave a short interview on the major findings of his study, what surprised him most, how public opinion varies in the provinces, and the approval ratings of the Afghan government.
