African Economic Research Consortium: Research Meets Policy in Africa

  • Friday, Mar 14, 2014
  • Please join us for a discussion of the AERC’s work to build a cadre of African researchers that will help guide African policymakers in economic planning and management. Now in its 25th year, the AERC’s mission is to strengthen local capacity for independent, rigorous inquiry into problems facing African economies. Based in Nairobi, the consortium is ranked among Africa’s top think tanks. Panelists will discuss the importance and the challenge of cultivating and retaining an in-country class of professional economists and generating a body of empirical evidence that fosters and supports evidence-based policymaking in the economic arena.

    Speakers will include:

    Dr. Benno Ndulu
    Governor, Tanzania Central Bank

    Dr. Mthuli Ncube
Vice President and Chief Economist, African Development Bank
Chair, African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) Board

    Prof. Lemma W. Senbet

    Executive Director, AERC
