Book Launch for "China's Rise: Challenges and Opportunities"

  • Date: Wednesday, Oct 8, 2008
    Location:

    CSIS Conference Center B1
    1800 K St. NW
    Washington DC 20006

The Peterson Institute for International Economics and the Center for Strategic and International Studies jointly hosted a conference to launch our new book "China's Rise: Challenges and Opportunities." The event featured remarks from the coauthors of the book and also included a panel of two former US Ambassadors to China to comment on the book and to share their own views on the relationship: James Lilley and Stapleton Roy.

The conference is part of the China Balance Sheet project which has been conducted by the Peterson Institute and CSIS over the last three years. Our initial product, China, The Balance Sheet: What the World Needs to Know Now About the Emerging Superpower was released in 2006. It was followed by a compendium of papers, The China Balance Sheet in 2007 and Beyond, prepared by the authors of the first book and several invited experts. The new volume aims to identify the most important future areas of challenges and potential cooperation in U.S.-China relations.
