The threat of catastrophic human pandemic is of international importance, requiring the attention of leading experts in various industries. Due to the large scale demands of international health emergencies, coordination of multiple players is imperative in order to resolve needs as they arise. This Careers in Development session will feature Amb. John Lange, who will discuss both public and private preparations for pandemic diseases, as well as advice on how to enter the field of foreign affairs.

Amb. Lange currently serves as Senior Program Officer for Africa Global Policy and Advocacy with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, with a background of 30 years in international health relations. Amb. Lange’s experiences include the treatment and prevention of AIDS and avian flu across governments, NGOs, and the private sector. Amb. Lange will draw upon his involvement with global health diplomacy and his career in this field.
