The Competition for Capital in the National Security Sector

December 7, 2015 • 10:45 am – 12:00 pm EST

This event focused on the implications of the fact that defense-focused firms depend on capital markets for resources and confront choices about how to deploy their capital. In today's highly uncertain and constrained defense budget environment, and with the aggressive expectations of investors (including activist investors), firms in the national security sector must justify their allocation of resources to defense investments over other deployment strategies, including to shareholders and commercial investments. Are firms incentivized to make investments that support DoD's objectives? How does Wall Street view these choices?
