  • Andrew Mwenda, one of Uganda’s leading journalists, assessed the current political situation in Uganda, including the current standoff between the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and the government of Uganda. He also discussed what efforts the U.S. and international community might take to move Uganda forward towards great081121_mwenda_uganda.jpger democratization. Before joining the Independent, Mr. Mwenda worked for the Monitor, where he hosted a highly popular and respected talk radio show on Monitor FM, providing unfiltered commentary on Ugandan politics and public affairs and challenging personalities such as Jeffrey Sachs and President Museveni. Mr. Mwenda was a Knight Fellow in Journalism at Stanford in 2005-2006.
