Countdown to Nigeria's 2015 Elections

January 26, 2015 • 2:30 – 4:00 pm EST

EVENT CANCELED:

We regret that because of a last minute change in Major-General (ret.) Muhammadu Buhari's schedule, the CSIS Africa Program Event, "Countdown to Nigeria's 2015 Elections," originally scheduled for Monday, January 26, is canceled.

Over the course of the last year, through the CSIS Nigeria Election Forum, the CSIS Africa Program has provided a neutral venue to profile a range of views from Nigerian civil society organizations, political leadership of both parties, and government officials. The series has aimed to convey to a U.S. policy audience what is at stake in the forthcoming elections and support efforts to ensure that the electoral process is free, fair, credible, and peaceful. In the run-up to the election, the leadership of Nigeria’s two main political parties were both extended an invitation to speak at CSIS.

The CSIS Africa Program invites you to the sixth session of the CSIS Nigeria Election Forum:
Countdown to Nigeria's 2015 Elections

with:
Major-General (ret.) Muhammadu Buhari
Presidential Candidate, All Progressives Congress (APC)

Join us for a conversation with APC presidential candidate and former head of state Major-General (ret.) Muhammadu Buhari as he shares his perspective on the major issues surrounding the national elections scheduled for mid-February in Nigeria.

Gen. Buhari  has accepted an invitation extended to the presidential candidates of Nigeria's two main parties for a discussion with a Washington audience about the significance of Nigeria's elections and the importance of a free, fair, and peaceful process.

Over the course of the last year CSIS has provided a neutral venue to profile a range of views from civil society, political leadership, and government officials.
