Current and former DHS officials, senior congressional staff and executives from critical industries launched a unique new report commissioned by computer security specialists McAfee, Inc.

The report was researched and written by a CSIS team under the direction of former senior homeland security official Stewart Baker and national security reporter Shaun Waterman.

Uniquely, the report is based on data from a survey of 600 IT and security executives in enterprises that own and/or operate critical infrastructure in 14 countries across the world. The survey data gathered for the report paints for the first time a detailed picture of the way those charged with the defense of critical IT networks are responding to cyber-attacks, attempting to secure their systems and working with governments.

The executives surveyed report that their IT networks are under repeated cyber-attack, often by high-level adversaries such as nation-states, organized crime gangs or terror groups. The impact of such attacks is often severe, and their cost is high and borne widely.

The report “In the Crossfire: Critical Infrastructure in the Age of Cyber War,” will be launched by McAfee at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and by CSIS in Washington DC.

    Speakers include:

Susan Armstrong, Department of Homeland Security, Office of Infrastructure Protection
Aaron Levy, Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies
    Adam Rice, CSO Tata Communications
Dr. Phyllis Schneck, VP threat intelligence, McAfee Inc
