Discussions on Outcomes of the XV International AIDS Conference

Kathleen Cravero, deputy executive director of UNAIDS, Bates Gill, CSIS Freeman Chair in China Studies, and other senior HIV/AIDS experts discussed major outcomes of the XV International AIDS Conference, held July 11-16 in Bangkok, at a session hosted by the CSIS Task Force on HIV/AIDS on July 21. Panelists noted the conference's promising new focus on Asia's looming HIV/AIDS crisis, discussions around the role of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, perceptions of the U.S. response to HIV/AIDS, and challenges and implications for the next International AIDS Conference in Toronto in 2006.
