Elections after the Revolution: What the March 2006 Elections Mean for Democratization in Ukraine and the Country's Political Fu

  • Three days after Ukraine’s parliamentary elections, CSIS’s Russia and Eurasia Program hosted a panel of experts who discussed how well the election corresponded to democratic standards, what the results meant for a majority coalition in the next parliament, and the implications for future Ukrainian domestic and foreign policy.

    Steven Pifer, senior adviser at CSIS, chaired the panel, which featured Henry E. Hale, assistant professor, George Washington University; Michael H. Haltzel, senior foreign policy adviser and principal of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary LLP; and Michael McFaul, senior associate, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
