Iran is trying to develop a sophisticated military doctrine predicated on realistic threat assessments and a clear-eyed set of strategic goals, according to Ahmed S. Hashim. Hashim is associate professor and director of the International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and he discussed the foundation and evolution of Iranian military doctrine at a Gulf Roundtable at CSIS on January 9, 2013.
