The Future of Global Tobacco Control

Please join us on Thursday, April 14, to hear Dr. Thomas Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), offer his vision for the future of global tobacco control efforts. With only five months left until the September 2011 UN High Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and just days prior to the Ministerial Meeting in Moscow on NCDs, Dr. Frieden will reflect on the major achievements and gaps in international tobacco control since the founding of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, outline the United States’ special contributions, and define the best, most practicable tobacco-related outcomes for the September UN High Level Meeting.

An implementers roundtable on the international, regional, and domestic challenges and opportunities of operationalizing tobacco control strategies will follow Dr. Frieden’s presentation.
