The Homeland Security Program of The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) hosted a discussion focusing on bio-surveillance for animal-borne diseases like the West Nile virus.
The discussion was led by Dr. Tracey McNamara, a veterinary pathologist, and focused on the need to pay closer attention to animal disease, particularly to disease in non-agricultural animals, in building a health surveillance system that can rapidly identify and track an emerging infectious disease or biological attack.
