Interns Debate Direction of U.S. Foreign Policy
- Date: Thursday, Aug 5, 2004
The CSIS Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy sponsored an intern debate with the American Enterprise Institute on the future direction of U.S. foreign policy on August 5. The debates centered on three issues: whether the U.S. should send peacekeeping troops to Sudan, normalize relations with North Korea, and use preemptive military action without multilateral consensus and cooperation. "The direction of U.S foreign policy ought to be discussed by all Americans and in particular by young people who clearly have much at stake in the future of this country," said Linda Jamison, dean of the CSIS Abshire-Inamori Leadership Academy.
