On July 27, 2011 the Project on U.S. Leadership in Development hosted a small, roundtable discussion with Dr. Akio Hosono, Director of the JICA Research Institute. Dr. Hosono presented lessons learned and current challenges in creating and implementing capacity-building models from the perspective of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).  Dr. Hosono's timely discussion was of particular interest as American foreign assistance efforts are increasingly being focused on adopting a more affordable, sustainable approach to development.
