  • Date: Friday, Jun 6, 2008

On June 6th, the CSIS Homeland Security Program hosted the Bruce Mann, Director of the U.K.’s Civil Contingencies Secretariat.

The event was the third symposium of Lessons from Abroad, a study launched by the CSIS Homeland Security Program and the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute to bring the best practices in counterterrorism and homeland security from abroad to decision makers in the United States. Mr. Mann discussed the United Kingdom’s emergency planning and response system, which actively involves individuals, volunteer organizations, and the private sector in the government’s integrated and uniform prevention, response, and recovery system.
